How to measure for curtains and blinds
A steel tape, paper and ten minutes. Follow the steps below — or let our specialist come.

Step 1 / 4
Choose the mounting point
Ceiling, wall or on the glass? Sheers and drapes hang from a ceiling track or 10–15 cm above the frame; blinds go inside or outside the recess; PVC sashes can take drill-free on-glass brackets.

Step 2 / 4
Measure the width in three places
Use a steel tape at the top, middle and bottom and note the smallest. Add 15–20 cm overlap each side for curtains; for inside-recess blinds deduct 1 cm.

Step 3 / 4
Measure the drop from the mounting point
Measure from the track or bracket position down to the floor or sill. Deduct 1–2 cm if it should not touch the floor; stop above a radiator if there is one.

Step 4 / 4
Note obstacles
Note handles, sockets, air conditioners and ceiling details. For on-glass mounting give the net glass size. Not sure? Book a free measuring visit.
Quick rules
- Curtains: width = opening + 15–20 cm each side. Enter the finished width; the calculator adds fullness.
- Blinds inside the recess: width − 1 cm. Outside: add 5–8 cm each side.
- On glass: visible glass size + 3 cm.
- Drop: mounting point to floor − 1 cm, or down to the sill.
